Gas Boiler Service

The boiler is probably the most important piece of equipment in your home, providing warmth and hot water throughout the year, however, it can also be the most neglected. This is why a boiler service and operational safety check are essential for ensuring your boiler is safe and operating at peak performance. A safety check will help to protect the household against the potential of carbon monoxide poisoning and ensure the boiler is operating efficiently. It will also help you save money on your heating bills. For the avoidance of doubt, the Boiler Service is not insurance or a regulated financial product.

We will arrange for a Gas Safe Registered Engineer to complete a service and operational safety inspection on a date agreed by you

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions when you buy boiler service

What is a boiler service?

A boiler service involves a Gas Safe registered engineer inspecting and maintaining your boiler to ensure it's safe, efficient, and functioning correctly.

Why is an annual boiler service important?

Boiler service is important for smooth running of the boiler and is recommended to be done annually.
Some of the key benefits of regular servicing are:

  • Safety: An annual service is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers to help ensure your boiler operates safely.
  • Efficiency: A serviced boiler tends to run more efficiently, which may help reduce energy bills.
  • Longevity: Servicing helps increase the lifespan of the boiler and may reduce the risk of future issues.
  • Warranty: Many manufacturers and insurers require annual servicing to keep warranties valid.

What’s included in a standard boiler service?

A standard boiler service may include:

  • A full safety check of your boiler and controls
  • Inspection for leaks or corrosion
  • Cleaning of key components
  • Flue and ventilation checks
  • Pressure and flow testing
  • A service report
All services are carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, subject to policy terms and conditions.

How often should I get my boiler serviced?

Annual boiler servicing is recommended for safety, efficiency, and to help maintain warranty coverage. Most manufacturers and insurers won’t cover the warranty without an annual service.

How can I arrange for a boiler service?

Boiler service may be included in your home emergency plan depending on the level of cover purchased. If it isn’t included, you can still book a one-off service on a pay-per-use basis by calling03333 449 559.
Please note:As this is an emergency breakdown policy and not a maintenance policy, cover is provided subject to policy terms and limits. We will not pay claims where the equipment hasn’t been serviced in line with manufacturer recommendations or where a boiler hasn’t been serviced in the last 12 months.

How much does a boiler service cost in the UK?

The cost of a boiler service in the UK typically ranges from £90 to £140, depending on the boiler type, location, and provider. Cover is available from £88 per year, including an annual service, subject to policy terms and limits.

What is the difference between boiler cover and boiler service?

A boiler service is a one-off inspection and maintenance check. Boiler cover is an ongoing protection plan that includes repairs and emergency call-outs, subject to policy terms, conditions, and limits (e.g., alternative accommodation may be provided up to £200 if your home becomes uninhabitable).

Can I get a boiler service near me?

Yes, boiler services are available across the UK through a network of qualified, local engineers, subject to policy terms and conditions.

Why is the red light flashing on my boiler?

A flashing red light usually indicates a fault such as low pressure, ignition failure, or a sensor issue. Some models flash during a reset cycle. Always get it checked by a professional. If you hold cover, you may have access to 24/7 support and call-outs, subject to policy terms and limits.

What are the UK regulations for boiler condensate pipes?

UK building regulations state that condensate pipes must be properly insulated and discharged either internally (into a waste water system) or externally with frost-resistant installation. Engineers work in line with Gas Safe and building regulation standards to help ensure compliance.
