Home contents insurance covers your belongings against theft, fire, flood, and sometimes accidental damage. It does not cover mechanical or electrical breakdown, the most common reason appliances stop working. Even policies with accidental damage add-ons typically cover only physical damage (dropping something), not internal component failure caused by heat, or electrical fault. What Happens When an Appliance Is Beyond Economical Repair?
If a Smart Cover engineer determines that the cost of repairing an appliance exceeds what is economically viable, or if the appliance cannot be safely repaired, Smart Cover will contribute towards a like-for-like replacement based on the original appliance's specification and age at the time the policy was taken out.
