How to make a claim

Three simple steps from reporting your emergency to getting it resolved.

Log in to your account

Use your registered phone number to access your Smart Cover customer portal. An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your mobile number. Enter the OTP to securely log in and view your active policies.

Submit your claim

In the My Policies section, select View Policy, then click Make a Claim for the product you wish to claim against. Complete the claim request form with the required details and submit your claim for review.

Engineer dispatched

Once your claim is approved, an engineer will be dispatched to attend your property as soon as possible, subject to availability and policy terms.

How quickly will an engineer arrive?
Smart Cover aims to dispatch a qualified engineer within 24 hours of claim approval. Emergency situations such as total heating loss are prioritised same day where possible.
Is there an excess on my claim?
Excess amounts depend on your policy type and cover level. Many Smart Cover policies carry zero excess. Check your policy schedule or IPID for the exact figure.
Can I claim outside of working hours?
Yes. Our emergency claims line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year including all bank holidays.
What if my claim is rejected?
If we cannot approve your claim, we will explain the reason in writing and outline your options, including our FCA-regulated formal complaints procedure.
How many claims can I make per year?
This varies by product. Please refer to your policy schedule or call 03333 449 559 to confirm the claim limit on your specific policy.
Do I need to use Smart Cover's engineers?
Yes. All work must be carried out by our approved, Gas Safe registered engineers. Costs for independently arranged repairs cannot be reimbursed under your policy.
