Yes, an oven that won't heat up or reach temperature is one of the most common claims, often caused by a failed heating element, thermostat or fan. If the cause is a covered mechanical or electrical breakdown, an engineer can diagnose and repair it, subject to your policy terms, conditions and limits. Faults from misuse or pre-existing issues are not covered.

Cover applies to sudden mechanical and electrical breakdowns, which can include a failed heating element, thermostat, fan motor, selector switch or control board. An engineer diagnoses the covered fault and repairs it. Gradual wear, poor maintenance and pre-existing faults are excluded. Always check your policy terms.

Cover is available for built-in electric and gas ovens against mechanical and electrical breakdown and accidental damage. Any gas work is carried out by a suitably qualified engineer. If you have a freestanding cooker with a hob, our cooker insurance may suit you better.

Oven insurance is available for ovens up to 10 years old at policy inception. Within that range, cover for older ovens may be limited to repair-only or a reduced contribution towards a replacement, depending on the age of the item. Pre-owned, second-hand ovens and pre-existing faults are not covered, and proof of purchase is required.
